Keep the decisions
connected.
Designed around a two-arm, individually randomised study with one index child per family. Other designs need additional planning.
- 01
Define the outcome
Record the construct, measure, reporter and scoring rule.
- 02
Plan the measurement
Set time points, assistance and missing-data decisions.

Take it into your protocol
Export an editable plan and use the supporting templates.
The toolkit has not yet been evaluated with independent research teams. It organises planning decisions; it does not select a validated scale or certify research quality.

Start with one comparison and one primary outcome.
Your outcome specification
Resolve the decisions listed below before incorporating this into a study protocol. Exporting a draft preserves its open questions.
A toolkit you can use.
Download individual files or take the complete versioned package.
Follow the research steps, explore four candidate measures, then record the evidence and permissions for your study.
Markdown files are editable text. CSV files open in spreadsheet software. JSON preserves structured planning fields. Third-party questionnaires are not included.
One outcome,

An illustration of the decisions a team needs to make. All data and programme details below are synthetic.
Impact of child anxiety
on daily life
A fictional two-arm study compares online modules with weekly practitioner calls against locally documented usual care. The primary follow-up is 12 weeks after randomisation.
- Information source
- Parent who knows the assigned group
- Scoring
- Self-report, with a prespecified scoring rule
- Other reporters
- Child self-report would have a separate outcome record
- Assistance
- Technical access help; record any additional assistance

A zero is a value.
Missing and unscorable responses retain a row, with an empty score and a reason. They do not become zero or disappear from the expected-assessment roster.
The score is fictional. It is not a validated instrument and must not be administered to families.
Download the example data ↓A reproducible record structure. It does not demonstrate that the intervention works or that missing data are harmless.

- Develop & check
Review the content, test research tasks and document changes.
Current stage - Archive & describe
Release a stable toolkit with a DOI and a development paper or preprint. Cite the object actually used.
- Study actual use
Evaluate uptake and outcomes with real data. A later evaluation paper is a separate contribution.
When you use a toolkit template, identify its version. When you use a measure or method, also cite its original source. Downloads, citations and verified independent use are recorded separately.
